How to track creator posts with the Content tab in Campaign

Set up keyword tracking in your campaign and monitor post performance across platforms in one place

If your plan includes the Campaign module, you can use the Content tab to track posts from creators in your campaign, based on the hashtags, keywords, and mentions they include in their content.

It works similarly to the Stream tool, with one key difference:

  • Content tab: Tracks posts from creators added to a specific campaign

  • Stream: Tracks posts from any creator in the Upfluence database, not limited to campaigns

1. Set up content tracking for your campaign

You can define your tracking rules during campaign creation or any time after.

  • During campaign creation: Go to Step 2: Information and scroll to the Content tracking section.

  • After your campaign is live: Go to Campaign Settings > Content > Define Keywords

Step 1. Choose your platforms

You can track content on Instagram (posts), Instagram Stories, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest, Twitch, and blogs. Select Any to track across all platforms at once.

Note: Instagram Stories are tracked separately from regular Instagram posts. To track Stories, creators need to connect their professional Instagram accounts to Upfluence. See How to invite creators to connect their Instagram accounts.

Even with a valid connection and the right keywords, two Story types can't be tracked automatically:

  • Reshared Stories

  • Q&A answer Stories

This is a platform-level limitation, not a tagging or setup issue. If a creator posts either of these, the only option is a manual upload.

Step 2. Define your keywords

Enter the exact hashtags, mentions, or keywords you want to track:

Example

Type

Value

#Running

Hashtag

Running

@mybrand

Mention

mybrand

“Product name” keyword

Keyword

Product name

Note: Creators must include the exact keywords, hashtags, or mentions in their captions for the Stream tool to track their posts.

Step 3. Set timeframe and expenses

  1. Choose a tracking duration that matches your campaign timeline

  2. Add your CPM (Cost Per Mille) and campaign expenses to enable automatic ROI calculations.

  3. Click Save > Start Recording

A few things to keep in mind:

2. Viewing the Content report

Once your Content tab is set up and creators publish posts with your keywords, those posts will appear in the report automatically. Allow up to 4 days for them to show up.

Campaign-level metrics are displayed at the top of the report:

  1. Number of Posts: Total tracked posts.

  2. Estimated Impressions: Potential audience reached.

  3. Total Estimated Reach: Combined audience reach of all posts.

  4. Total Engagement: Total likes, shares, and comments.

  5. Estimated Media Value (EMV): Estimated value of the media exposure.

  6. Return on Investment (ROI): ROI is calculated based on campaign expenses input in your settings.

  7. Audience Demographics: Breakdown of the engaged audience.

  8. Average Engagement by Publication Time: Trends in engagement based on when posts are published.

Learn more about these metrics: Upfluence Metrics Guide.

Post-level metrics appear when you scroll down. Available metrics vary by post type (e.g., Instagram Stories vs. X posts).

Filter by creator: use the All creators dropdown at the top of the report to focus on a specific creator's posts.

To filter posts by a specific creator:

  • Go to your Content report page (same as stream report page)

  • Use the "All creators" drop-down to select a specific creator

3. Troubleshooting:

If posts are not visible after 4 days, check this guide: Why am I not seeing a post from my creator on the Stream Report/Campaign Content Tab?

FAQs

1. How far back can you pull content for the Stream?

  • Maximum content retrieval:

    • Content can be pulled from the last 6 months, within the most recent 100 publications of the creator.

  • Important conditions:

    • The creator must have been in the database before the Stream was created.

    • For example, if a creator was added on July 1st, only the last 9 posts before July 1st will be available, along with all subsequent posts.

  • Data updates:

    • Only posts published within the last 90 days and among the creator's last 100 publications will have updated engagement data.

2. What does "content" for Twitch or YouTube mean when setting up a Stream?

  • Twitch: Tracks keywords in the stream title, tags, or game being played.

  • YouTube: Tracks keywords in the video description.

3. What's the difference between the stream tool and content in a campaign?

  • Content Tab: Tracks creators added to a specific campaign.

  • Stream Tool: Tracks all creators in the Upfluence database based on your criteria, not limited to specific campaigns.

4. Can I capture posts made before the Stream or campaign setup?

Yes, posts made before the Stream or campaign setup can be captured, but:

  • Content can be pulled from the last 6 months or last 100 publications.

  • Conditions: The creator must have been in the database before the Stream was created.

5. How can I use a Stream to calculate my campaign ROI?

To calculate your campaign ROI using a stream, follow these steps:

  1. Set a CPM: Define the Cost Per Thousand Impressions (CPM) for your brand.

  1. Input Campaign Expenses: Enter the total amount spent on all publications.

  2. ROI Calculation: Use this formula:

    • ROI = ((EMV - Campaign Expenses) / Campaign Expenses) * 100

If your ROI is above 0, it indicates a successful campaign outcome, meaning that the engagement and impressions generated exceed the budget you allocated.

6. What does the location refer to when I set up a stream?

The location refers to the creator’s country if specified. If not, it will use the geolocation of the post (available for Instagram posts).

7. Is it possible to remove an end date from a Stream that's already been running?

Yes, you can remove the end date by going to the Stream settings and updating the Tracking period section.
