Why a creator post is not being seen on the Stream/Content tab

Common reasons and how to fix them

Updated this week

Here are some common reasons why creators' posts might not appear on your stream report when you are checking it.

1. The post is too recent

If your influencer posted within the last four days, their content might not appear immediately. Stream reports are updated at regular intervals, usually between 1 to 4 days. The update frequency can depend on several factors, including:

  • The social media platform (some are updated more often than others).

  • The influencer's activity level.

  • Whether the content is re-imported into our system.

2. The creator’s account is private

Upfluence can only access public posts. If an account is set to private, its content won’t appear in your stream. You can verify this by opening the post URL in incognito mode without logging into the social media platform to see if you can view the post.

3. The post includes restricted, regulated, or flagged content

Some posts may be excluded from your stream due to Instagram’s sensitive content policies or creator-controlled visibility settings.

There are two main reasons a post might be restricted:

1. Platform restrictions

Instagram may limit access to posts it deems sensitive or in violation of its guidelines. This includes:

Regulated industry content:

  • Alcohol

  • Tobacco or vaping products

  • Cannabis or CBD

  • Prescription drugs or dietary supplements

  • Sexual wellness or adult content

  • Weapons or ammunition

Flagged or moderated content:

  • Misinformation

  • Hate speech

  • Harassment or abusive behavior

  • Explicit or violent content

2. Creator-controlled visibility

Creators can control who sees their posts through content settings, such as hiding certain content from non-followers or age-restricted audiences.

Why this content won’t show up

Upfluence collects only publicly available content. If a platform hides or removes a post for violating its community guidelines, or if it places restrictions due to the nature of the content (e.g., adult themes, regulated industries), that post becomes inaccessible to Upfluence.

🕵️ To check if a post is publicly accessible, try opening the post URL in an incognito browser window without logging in. If the post doesn’t load, it’s not publicly viewable — and Upfluence can’t collect it.

4. Location filters are too specific

When tracking a specific list of influencers (e.g., from the content tab in a campaign), avoid using location filters unless absolutely necessary. If an influencer doesn’t tag their location or if the software can't detect it, their post won’t show up in the results.

5. Filters are missing or too narrow

When setting up a stream to collect posts from multiple platforms, make sure to select "Any" in the social media section.

Note: Instagram posts and stories are considered different post types. If you want to collect Instagram posts, reels, and stories, you need to select both "Instagram" and "Story."

6. Field types aren’t set correctly

To keep your social listening stream more precise, make sure to set up the field types with appropriate values, such as "Content," "Mention," etc.

7. Incorrect or missing keywords

Influencers must use the exact keywords you set up in the stream for their posts to be collected. Posts won't appear if there's a typo or if the influencer didn't use the specified keywords. In these cases, the content can't be manually added to your report either.

8. Tracking dates are misconfigured

If you don't set specific start and end dates, the stream will collect posts from the past 6 months. The end date will automatically adjust to today's date, with the start date being 6 months prior. If you set custom start and end dates, this timeline will remain fixed.

9. Display date isn’t aligned

Ensure that the post you are checking falls within the display date range set on the report page.

10. Influencers weren’t in your original selection

When you select a list while setting up your stream, only the influencers on that list at that moment are included. If you add more influencers later, they won't be automatically added to your selection. You'll need to re-select the list to include the new influencers.

11. Influencers aren’t in our database

We can only collect posts from influencers in our database. To check if an influencer is included, use our Chrome plugin. If they aren't in the database, click "Add influencer" to include them.

12. Instagram account isn’t connected (for Stories)

Stories are private data, so we can only collect them if the influencer has connected their Instagram account to Upfluence.

13. X (Twitter) posts are no longer public

Due to X's recent changes, some X posts are no longer public, which prevents automatic collection. You can still manually import individual X posts by using their URLs.

Final note

Not all of these reasons may apply depending on your stream settings and campaign goals. After making updates or changes, allow 1–2 hours for the system to refresh and start collecting relevant content.
