Common reasons and how to fix them

Here are some common reasons why creators' posts might not appear on your stream report when you are checking it.

1. Recent posts are not yet updated

If your influencer posted within the last four days, their content might not appear immediately. Stream reports are updated at regular intervals, usually between 1 to 4 days. The update frequency can depend on several factors, including:

  • The social media platform (some are updated more often than others).

  • The influencer's activity level.

  • Whether the content is re-imported into our system.

2. Private account

As we only have access to public data, if the creator's account is set to private, we cannot access it. You can verify this by opening the post URL in incognito mode without logging into the social media platform to see if you can view the post.

3. Forbidden content by social media

If the creator’s post contains content that violates the social media platform's guidelines, it may be removed or blocked, preventing it from appearing in your stream report. You can also verify this by opening the post URL in incognito mode without logging into the social media platform to see if you can view the post.

4. Avoid unnecessary location filters

When tracking a specific list of influencers (e.g., from the content tab in a campaign), avoid using location filters unless absolutely necessary. If an influencer doesn’t tag their location or if the software can't detect it, their post won’t show up in the results.

5. Missing filters

When setting up a stream to collect posts from multiple platforms, make sure to select "Any" in the social media section.

Note: Instagram posts and stories are considered different post types. If you want to collect Instagram posts, reels, and stories, you need to select both "Instagram" and "Story."

6. Field types not set up correctly

To keep your social listening stream more precise, make sure to set up the field types with appropriate values, such as "Content," "Mention," etc.

7. Incorrect keywords

Influencers must use the exact keywords you set up in the stream for their posts to be collected. Posts won't appear if there's a typo or if the influencer didn't use the specified keywords. In these cases, the content can't be manually added to your report either.

8. Incorrect tracking start and end dates

If you don't set specific start and end dates, the stream will collect posts from the past 6 months. The end date will automatically adjust to today's date, with the start date being 6 months prior. If you set custom start and end dates, this timeline will remain fixed.

9. Display date not set correctly

Ensure that the post you are checking falls within the display date range set on the report page.

10. Influencers not in your selection

When you select a list while setting up your stream, only the influencers on that list at that moment are included. If you add more influencers later, they won't be automatically added to your selection. You'll need to re-select the list to include the new influencers.

11. Influencers not in our database

We can only collect posts from influencers in our database. To check if an influencer is included, use our Chrome plugin. If they aren't in the database, click "Add influencer" to include them.

12. Instagram account not connected

Stories are private data, so we can only collect them if the influencer has connected their Instagram account to Upfluence.

Note that not all of these may apply, depending on your specific goals and settings. After making changes, allow one or two hours for the software to update and collect posts.
