How to track influencer posts with the Content tab in Campaigns

Monitor campaign posts, analyze performance, and manage tracking settings

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If your plan includes the Campaign module, you can use the Content tab to track posts made by your influencers based on the hashtags, keywords, and brand mentions they use in their content.

It works hand-in-hand with the Stream tool, but here’s the key difference:

  • Content tab: Tracks posts only from influencers added to a specific campaign

  • Stream tool: Tracks posts from any influencer in the Upfluence database, not limited to campaigns

1. Set up content tracking for your campaign

You can define your tracking rules during or after campaign creation.

Where to add tracking terms:

  • During campaign creation: In Step 2: Information, scroll to the Content tracking section

  • After your campaign is live: Go to Campaign Settings > Content > Define Keywords

Step 1. Choose platforms to track:

You can track content on:

  • Instagram (posts)

  • Instagram Stories

  • TikTok

  • YouTube

  • X (formerly Twitter)

  • Pinterest

  • Twitch

  • Blogs

✅ To track all platforms: select “Any”

Note: Instagram Stories are separate from other Instagram posts. To track Stories, ensure creators connect their professional Instagram accounts to Upfluence. How to invite creators to connect Instagram accounts.

Step 2. Define hashtags, mentions, and keywords

Specify exactly what to track:

Example

Type

Value

#Running

Hashtag

Running

@mybrand

Mention

mybrand

“Product name” keyword

Keyword

Product name

Note: Creators must include the exact keywords, hashtags, or mentions in their captions for the Stream tool to track their posts.

Step 3. Set timeframe and expenses

  1. Choose a tracking duration that matches your campaign timeline

  2. Add CPM and Campaign Expenses to enable automatic ROI calculations

🟢 Click Save, then Start Recording

Important Notes:

  • Defined hashtags, keywords, and mentions are essential for tracking. Without them, posts cannot be monitored.

2. Viewing the Content report

Once the Content tab is set up and posts are published, the system will automatically track posts that include your specified hashtags, keywords, or mentions.

  • Posts will automatically appear in the report.

  • Posts may take up to 4 days to appear.

1. Top-of-page metrics overview:

  1. Number of Posts: Total tracked posts.

  5. Estimated Media Value (EMV): Estimated value of the media exposure.

  7. Audience Demographics: Breakdown of the engaged audience.

  8. Average Engagement by Publication Time: Trends in engagement based on when posts are published.

Learn more about these metrics: Upfluence Metrics Guide.

2. Post-level metrics:

Scroll down to view individual posts and their associated performance metrics. The available metrics vary depending on the post type (e.g., Instagram Story vs. X posts).

3. Influencer filtering

To filter posts by a specific influencer:

  • Go to your Content report page (same as stream report page)

  • Use the "All creators" drop-down to select a specific influencer

3. Troubleshooting:

If posts are not visible after 4 days, check this guide: Why am I not seeing a post from my creator on the Stream Report/Campaign Content Tab?

Frequently asked questions

How far back can you pull content for the Stream?

  • Maximum content retrieval:

    • Content can be pulled from the last 6 months, within the most recent 100 publications of the influencer.

  • Important conditions:

    • The influencer must have been in the database before the Stream was created.

    • For example, if an influencer was added on July 1st, only the last 9 posts before July 1st will be available, along with all subsequent posts.

  • Data updates:

    • Only posts published within the last 90 days and among the influencer's last 100 publications will have updated engagement data.

What does "content" for Twitch or YouTube mean when setting up a Stream?

  • YouTube: Tracks keywords in the video description.

What's the difference between the stream tool and content in a campaign?

How can I use a Stream to calculate my campaign ROI?

To calculate your campaign ROI using a stream, follow these steps:
