The Live Capture Feature provides two types of matching methods:

1️⃣ Influencer Matching: Capture influencers from your pools of customers and site visitors. You can also match emails from any database.

2️⃣ Landing Page: Collect contact information from interested influencers and convert them into valuable assets for your brand.

Check this helpful video to know more details:

For this article, we’ll focus on 1️⃣ Influencer Matching and how it can help you identify organic creators from your existing customer base.

💡 Pro Tip: We highly recommend utilizing this powerful Influencer Matching tool. It enables you to passively discover influencers who are already familiar with your brand and potentially love your products.

These "organic influencers" are often more cost-effective to engage, typically requiring just product giveaways or minimal compensation compared to influencers who are new to your brand.

Step-by-Step Guide

I. Understand how influencer matching works for your e-commerce store

When a new customer makes a purchase or subscribes to your newsletter, Upfluence’s system automatically checks to see if they could be an influential figure. If they meet the criteria, their profile is automatically added to your selected list, complete with details about their social reach, engagement, and purchase history. This streamlined process allows you to quickly engage them to work with your brand.

II. Setting Up a New Influencer Matching Live Capture

Prerequisites:

Before setting up Influencer Matching, ensure that your Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or Klaviyo account is connected to Upfluence. If you haven't connected your e-commerce store or Klaviyo account yet, follow these tutorials:

  3. Name your Live Capture Matching and Select "Influencer Matching" as the capture type.

  4. Scroll down to choose your Matching provider.

  5. When you have selected your capture source, you can go to the next step.

If you have a large database, Upfluence will analyze all users within the selected capture source (Matching provider) to identify potential influencers, potentially expanding your influencer network significantly.

That's it! All you have to do is click on "Save" to start the matching process. Now Upfluence will start matching every customer against our influencer database and the captured influencers will be automatically added to your Community.

III. Where can I find my matched influencers?

Matched influencers are automatically added to your Upfluence List as well as your Community dashboard.

You can easily find these influencers by going to the List you picked in previous step.

Or you can find them in your Community dashboard filter by "Live Capture Campaigns".

⭐️ Enhanced Data

You can also check each matched individual's purchase history metrics to easily identify the type of customer the influencer is and how they have interacted with your e-commerce store. This information includes:

  • Number of Purchases

  • Total Value of Purchases

  • Date of First Purchase

  • Date of Last Purchase

To add these columns, simply open the "Manage fields" tab, then click on the "Customer profile" section to include the columns related to these e-commerce insights.

Once added, you’ll be able to view all this information directly in your Community table. These columns are also filterable, allowing you to refine the displayed results according to your preferences.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is the difference between Live Capture - Matching and the Live Capture - Influencer Landing Page?

✔️ Live Capture Matching targets individuals who have purchased your products (on Shopify) or subscribed to your newsletter (via Klaviyo), identifying potential influencers from these interactions.

✔️ Live Capture Ambassador Landing Page is designed for visitors to your website or social media who proactively leave their contact information, expressing a desire to collaborate with you.

2. How do you know if someone is an influencer when doing Live Capture Matching? What are the metrics?

Identification of an influencer is based on matching the email address you have with the email addresses in the Upfluence database. If an email address appears on both sides, that contact will be presented to you for consideration.

There is no minimum follower requirement for this process; as long as the email matches, the potential influencer will be shown. Additionally, you can use filters in the Community App to further refine your search.

3. Why do I see influencers who have 0 purchase history at my store still get matched?

Influencers who have 0 purchase history at your store may still get matched because they either created an account or signed up for your newsletter on your shop.

4. What if I have a database but can't use one of the integrations you mentioned? Am I still able to use the Live capture feature?

If you can't use the integrations mentioned (e.g., Shopify, Klaviyo), our tech team can manually match your database. However, please be aware of the following:

  • Full Data Pack: This process will result in a full data pack, meaning you won't be able to pre-filter the data or set specific criteria beforehand.

  • Large Databases: If you have a large database, you may need to upgrade your community plan. Click here to learn more.

If you want to proceed with this option, simply reach out to our support team via the Live Chat bot for more details and assistance.

5. When I use Influencer Matching, how long should I wait before having all the identified influencers?

The processing time for Live Capture Matching depends on the platform and the number of influencers:

✔️ For integrated CMS: The duration largely depends on the quantity of influencers being analyzed. For example, processing a list of 5,000 influencers takes approximately 15 minutes on average.

✔️ For Klaviyo: The process is much quicker, with the first results appearing within a few minutes. However, for longer lists, there might be a slightly longer wait time.

6. When I do Live Capture matching, is selecting a Klaviyo list at the last step optional?

Yes, selecting a Klaviyo list at the final step is optional during Live Capture matching. By choosing a Klaviyo list, we help you to enrich your influencer list’s data.

Your identified influencers will be added to your selected Klaviyo list with additional information such as their Instagram handle, engagement rate, number of followers, and a link to their Upfluence profile.

7. What is the average matching success rate for Influencer Matching?

✔️ For CMS: The usual matching success rate is between 1-3% of profiles.

✔️ For Klaviyo: The success rate is slightly above 1%.

8. I launched a Live Capture matching campaign a few days ago but haven't seen results yet, what might be the reason and what to check?

  1. Retroactive Setting: Verify if the retroactive option is turned on. This setting allows the system to look back at previous customer interactions to identify potential influencers.

  2. Matching Activation: Ensure that the matching feature is activated for your campaign. Without activation, the system won't start the process of identifying influencers.

If both settings are correctly configured and you still don't see results, it may be helpful to reach out to our support via Live Chat Bot for further assistance.

9. Why do we encounter private profiles when running an Influencer Matching?

Private profiles appear in influencer matching campaigns for a few reasons:

  1. Previously Public Profiles: If an influencer's account was public when added to our database but later changed to a private setting, it will still appear in the matching results.

  2. Strategic Privacy Setting: Influencers might set their profiles to private to encourage more users to follow them, as accessing the content requires following the account.

It's important to note that we cannot determine the specific reasons why an influencer chooses to make their profile private.

10. If an influencer I'm working with during a campaign buys one of my products, will it be also identified via live capture matching again?

Yes, it will be identified via live capture if an influencer you are working with during a campaign buys one of your products. However, the profile will not be added again to your community.
