How retroactive analysis works in Live Capture

Understanding past and future influencer matching in your database

Updated over 3 weeks ago

1. What is retroactive analysis in Live Capture?

When setting up Live Capture for Influencer Matching, you have the option to perform a retroactive analysis on your existing database.

  • Enabled: Upfluence will analyze all past users in the selected capture source.

  • Disabled: Upfluence will only analyze future users from the selected capture source.

📌 Note: Retroactive analysis is not available for Zapier-based Live Captures, as they rely on real-time triggers.

2. How does retroactive analysis process data?

  • Databases are analyzed in their original order.

    • For Klaviyo: Influencers are analyzed chronologically, based on when they were added.

    • For Shopify and eCommerce stores: Data is analyzed based on customer creation date.

  • If retroactive analysis is disabled:

    • Live Capture will only process new users moving forward.

    • If paused, Live Capture will only process new users when reactivated.

3. Will removed influencers be re-added if Live Capture is reactivated?

  • If an influencer has already been matched once and their profile has not been updated in your database, they will not be matched again—even if Live Capture is reactivated.

  • However, if an influencer has been matched before, removed from your community, and their profile has been updated in your database, they will trigger a new match and be matched again.

To match removed influencers again:

  • Run a second retroactive analysis of the same database.

Best practice: Perform influencer matching directly into a List so you have a record of matched influencers, even after they are removed from your Community.
