How to set up and manage affiliate commissions

Track influencer sales and automate commission management directly from your campaign

Updated today

If you’re compensating influencers through commissions, you can easily manage this in Upfluence. Affiliate commissions can be based on a percentage of sales an influencer generates, or a fixed amount per sale.

Before you start

Two things need to be in place before you can use affiliate commissions:

  1. A connected e-commerce integration, see E-commerce store integrations for setup instructions.

  2. An affiliation offer properly assigned to your campaign, see Tracking influencer sales and running affiliate campaigns for details.

Without both of these in place, Upfluence won't be able to track sales within your campaign.

1. Set affiliate commissions

You can define commissions in two places:

  • In your campaign settings (to set a default rate)

  • Directly in the campaign table (to manage influencers individually or in bulk)

Option 1: In campaign settings

Go to Campaign Settings > Compensation > Default affiliate commission, then enter your default commission rate.

Note: This option becomes available only after you've linked a tracking plan to the campaign.
If you're using Marketplace and leave this blank, the commission box won’t appear on the influencer’s application page, so they won’t know a commission is being offered, which could lead to fewer applicants.

Option 2: In the campaign table

To set commissions in bulk:

  1. Select multiple influencers or click Select all.

  2. Click Bulk actions > Set offers > Affiliate commission offer.

  3. Under Payout type, choose either Percentage of each sale or Fixed amount per sale.

  4. Enter your payout value. If you selected Fixed amount per sale, use the dropdown to choose the currency.

  5. Click Set your commission offer to confirm.

To set a commission for one influencer:

  1. Go to your campaign and click the influencer’s profile.

  2. Under Campaign tab, find the Affiliate Commissions section.

  3. Choose Percentage of each sale or Fixed amount per sale, then enter the agreed rate.

  4. Click Save. The updated amount will appear in the Commission column.

2. Check and manage commissions

You can monitor and manage commission offers from three places:

  1. Campaign table: Check the "Commission" column for a quick overview across all influencers.

  2. Performance Tab: Go to the Conversions section and check the "Commission" column for sales-level detail.

  3. Influencer Profile: Click an influencer's name and open the side panel, scroll to Affiliate commissions.
