Learn how to track influencer sales and manage commission payments

One of our biggest goals here is to help you sell effectively with Upfluence. After sharing the discount codes and/or affiliate links with your influencers, you can track their sales performance and pay commissions based on their results. This guide explains how to track influencer sales performance and manage commission payments.


Step-by-Step Guide

I. Tracking Influencer Sales Performance

Let's see how to effectively track the sales generated by each influencer in your campaign.

There are three ways to track how a specific influencer is performing:

✅ Workflow Dashboard: 3 Columns of Information

Add the following columns to your dashboard by using "Manage fields":

1️⃣ Number of sales

2️⃣ Total generated sales value

3️⃣ Amount due

✅ Performance Tab (Most Recommended)

1️⃣ Track sales in the Performance tab. This shows each sale generated by all influencers in your campaign.

2️⃣ The order status (paid, canceled, or refunded) is displayed and updated live, allowing you to follow the status of each order.

3️⃣ You can manually reject sales orders that don't meet your requirements by clicking the x button. Click the "🔄" button to recover a rejected sale.

4️⃣ You can also filter by a specific influencer to see the number of sales they generated and the individual commission linked to each sale.

✅ Creator Side Panel

Open the influencer’s profile and view the dedicated section for tracking sales:

1️⃣ Total generated sales

2️⃣ Total affiliate commissions

3️⃣ Amount due

  • Calculation: Payouts are calculated based on the value of the sale without taxes and shipping cost, with the discount deducted.

  • Canceled/Refunded Orders: Only orders marked as “Paid” on your e-commerce are considered as sales. “Canceled” or “Refunded” orders are not included.

II. Paying Affiliate Commissions

Your campaign is running, and influencers are generating sales. Here's how to pay them:

We recommend to wait at least 15 days before paying influencers for generated sales to meet the applicable retraction period.


✅ Paying Individually

1️⃣ Access the Side Panel:

  1. Go to your workflow dashboard.

  2. Click on the influencer’s profile you want to pay. This will open their side panel.

2️⃣ Review Commission Details:

In the side panel, find the "Affiliate Commissions" section. Here you will see the total amount due based on the influencer’s sales.

3️⃣ Generate a Payment Request:

  1. Click on thebutton.

  2. Confirm the affiliate commission amount displayed.

  3. Click on the "Authorize" button to generate a payment request.

  4. Once authorized, an email from the Upfluence CS team will be sent to the influencer’s email address, notifying them of the payment.

✅ Paying Massively

1️⃣ Select Multiple Influencers:

  1. Go to the workflow dashboard.

  2. Select the influencers you want to pay by checking the boxes next to their names. You can also select all influencers if needed.

2️⃣ Create Bulk Payment Requests:

  1. Click on the "Set offer" dropdown button.

  2. Choose "Affiliate payment" from the options.

  3. A dropdown window will appear, displaying all selected influencers and the amount due for each.

3️⃣ Review and Authorize Payments:

  1. Review the amounts due for each influencer.

  2. Click on the "Create payment" button to authorize the payments.

  3. Influencers who generated sales will receive an automated email from Upfluence, notifying them of the payment. Influencers who did not generate sales will not receive an email.

✅ Repeat as Necessary:

If influencers continue to generate sales, repeat this process as many times as necessary. This ensures that all sales are accounted for and payments are made accurately.

III. Track Payment History:

Use the “Payment History” section or the “Total Paid” column in your workflow table to track the amount that has already been paid to each influencer. This helps maintain transparency and ensures accurate payment records.

IV. Sales and Commission Export

Influencers may request detailed information on how their commissions are calculated. This is a common practice in the industry and helps maintain trust.

✅ Enable Conversion Visibility:

Allow influencers to see their sales performance by enabling the “Creators' conversions visibility” option:

1️⃣ Go to Campaign Settings.

2️⃣ Navigate to Sales & Activity TrackingTracking Plan Options.

3️⃣ Toggle on Creators' conversions visibility.

4️⃣ Click Update campaign to save your changes.

✅ Exporting Sales and Commissions Data:

1️⃣ Access the Performance Section.

2️⃣ Select Conversions to Export:

  1. Click on "Conversions."

  2. Select the conversions you want to export. You can filter by date range, specific influencers, or other criteria to narrow down the data you need.

3️⃣ Export the Data:

  1. Click on the "Export" button.

  2. A .CSV file will be downloaded, containing detailed information about all sales made and the commission attributed to each sale.

4️⃣ Share with Influencers:

Use this .CSV file to provide influencers with a breakdown of their sales and commissions.

This exported file includes:

  1. Influencer names

  2. Dates of sales

  3. Order IDs

  4. Total sales value

  5. Commission rates

  6. Total commission due

This transparency ensures influencers understand how their commissions are calculated and builds trust in your campaign management.

The commission is calculated based on the total product value, excluding tax and shipping costs, with the discount deducted.
