Setting up and leveraging the Stream tool for performance tracking

Updated over a week ago

The Stream app combines two powerful functionalities in one:

  1. Analyze campaign results: Gain insights into influencer performance for your campaigns by tracking.

  2. Benchmark hashtag trends: Monitor hashtags, keywords, and brand mentions across the Upfluence database to strategize for upcoming campaigns.

Here's a helpful video about the Stream:

Understanding the Content tab and Stream

Content tab and Stream tool are sister features.

  • Content Tab (Exclusive to Campaign user):

    • Focuses on influencers added to a specific campaign.

    • Tracks posts, hashtags, mentions, and other metrics for influencers actively involved in your campaign.

  • Stream Tool (Introduced in this guide):

    • Monitors influencers across the Upfluence database, not limited to specific campaigns.

    • Provides a broader overview based on your criteria.

Setting up the Stream

  1. Go to the Stream tool and click the "+" button from the dropdown menu.

  2. Choose a name to easily identify the Stream later.

  3. Pick your tracking targets:

    • Select "All" to monitor all influencers in the Upfluence database.

    • Select "Selection" to monitor specific influencers by adding a list. Upfluence will track only these influencers’ posts.

  4. Select platforms to track:

    • To track all social media, select "Any".

    • Choose one or multiple platforms, including Instagram, Instagram Story, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest, Twitch, and blogs.

Note: Instagram Stories are separate from other Instagram posts. To track Stories, ensure creators connect their professional Instagram accounts to Upfluence. How to invite creators to connect Instagram accounts.

  5. Define Keywords:

    • Enter the hashtags, mentions, or keywords to track.

      Examples:

      • To track the hashtag #Running, select "Hashtag" as the field type and enter "Running" in the value field.

      • To track mentions of @mybrand, select "Mention" and enter "mybrand."

Note: Creators must include the exact keywords, hashtags, or mentions in their captions for the Stream tool to track their posts.

  6. Set a tracking duration that aligns with your campaign timeline.

  7. Input Cost Per Mille (CPM) and Campaign Expenses to calculate ROI automatically.

  8. Start Recording:

    • Click "Save" and then "Start Recording" to begin tracking.

    • Data gathering may take anywhere from a few hours to 4 days.

2. Stream report page

Once the Stream is set up and creators publish posts containing the specified keywords, hashtags, or mentions:

  • Posts will automatically appear in the Stream report.

  • Posts may take up to 4 days to appear.

3. Troubleshooting:

If posts are not visible after 4 days, check this guide: Why am I not seeing a post from my creator on the Stream Report/Campaign Content Tab?.

Frequently asked questions

How far back can you pull content for the Stream?

  • Maximum content retrieval:

    • Content can be pulled from the last 6 months, within the most recent 100 publications of the influencer.

  • Important conditions:

    • The influencer must have been in the database before the Stream was created.

    • For example, if an influencer was added on July 1st, only the last 9 posts before July 1st will be available, along with all subsequent posts.

  • Data updates:

    • Only posts published within the last 90 days and among the influencer's last 100 publications will have updated engagement data.

What does "content" for Twitch or YouTube mean when setting up a Stream?

  • YouTube: Tracks keywords in the video description.

What's the difference between the stream tool and content in a campaign?

Can I capture posts made before the Stream or campaign setup?

How can I use a Stream to calculate my campaign ROI?

To calculate your campaign ROI using a stream, follow these steps:
