Frequently asked questions

1. How does Upfluence obtain influencer emails?

Upfluence follows platform regulations and legal standards. We do not collect email addresses using methods that violate the policies of YouTube, Instagram, or other social platforms.

How we collect emails:

  • Publicly Available Emails: If an influencer lists their email in their bio, Upfluence captures and stores it.

  • Manual Addition: You can manually add an email to an influencer's profile. These emails remain private to your team.

2. How do I manually find and update an influencer's email?

  • On Instagram phone app, tap the "Contact" button on their profile.

  • On YouTube, visit their "About" page and click "View email address."

  • Manually update the email on their Upfluence profile for internal use.

3. Why is an influencer’s email sometimes invalid?

Creators may forget to update their email after changing it, or their inbox may be full due to excessive solicitations. If no valid email is found, Upfluence attempts to refresh the data.

4. Can Upfluence sync multiple email addresses to a creator’s profile?

Yes, you can:

  • Add an "Agent email" to contact influencers at multiple addresses.

  • Include CC/BCC recipients as needed.

5. How often does Upfluence update influencer emails?

  • If an email bounces, it is removed automatically.

  • Otherwise, Upfluence does not update emails unless manually changed.

6. Why is Upfluence's engaged audience data different from Instagram’s?

  • Upfluence tracks active engagement (likes, comments, shares) rather than total followers.

  • Instagram displays all followers, even those who do not engage.

7. How does Upfluence calculate "Engaged Audience Real %"?

We flag fake or inactive accounts based on:

  1. Accounts that follow many others but have few followers.

  2. Accounts that rarely post content or gain organic followers.

Example: If an account follows 1,000 people but only 100 follow back, it may be flagged as non-genuine.

8. Why is the engagement rate (ER%) different from other platforms?

Upfluence calculates ER% based on the last 90 days, whereas other tools may use different timeframes.

9. How is "Average Engagement by Publication Time" calculated?

  • Posts are grouped by day and time of publication.

  • Engagement rate is averaged across each time slot.

  • This helps identify optimal posting times.

10. Why don’t I see engaged audience data for an influencer after 7 days?

  • The influencer hasn’t posted enough (needs at least 100 posts in 6 months).

  • There are not enough comments for accurate analysis.

  • Audience demographics are determined from commenters' profiles, so fewer comments mean slower data processing.

11. How often does Upfluence update influencer data (engagement, followers, etc.)?

Updates occur every 1 to 10 days, depending on:

  • Platform activity (some update more frequently).

  • Influencer engagement (active influencers update more often).

  • User monitoring (influencers in active campaigns update more frequently).

  • Content re-imports (newly imported content triggers fresh updates).

12. How often are an influencer’s posts updated?

Posts for non-tracked influencers are updated every 5-10 days.

13. What historical data is available in Upfluence?

  • Metrics are based on the last 90 days.

  • No historical audience demographic evolution is available.

14. What does "Brand Mentions" on an influencer's profile mean?

  • These are mentions in captions from the last 90 days, ranked by frequency.

  • Brand tags are not included.

15. How does Upfluence calculate influencer response time?

Response time is based on the average time taken for influencers to reply to brand outreach.

16. How can I find a specific influencer?

  • Using the Search app: Type @ followed by their handle to prioritize their account.

  • Using the Chrome Plugin: Open their social media profile, then open Upfluence to check if they exist in the database.

17. How do I exclude influencers from search results?

  • Rejected influencers still appear in search results.

  • Use the "Exclude lists" filter to remove them from future searches.

18. How do I find influencers older than 60?

Use keywords like "60+" and set the age filter to "35-54".

19. Does selecting "Has a blog" include all blog platforms?

Yes, this filter includes all types of blogs, regardless of platform.

20. Can influencers be flagged for excessive brand mentions?

Upfluence does not differentiate spam mentions from real ones, but spamming brands is rare among professional creators.

21. Can I export an influencer’s data as a PDF?

Yes, there are no limits on exporting PDFs from the influencer side panel.

22. Is Upfluence’s Lifestyle Demographic Analysis (LDA) based only on Instagram?

Yes, LDA is Instagram-based and identifies influencers with at least 71.6% of followers over age 21.
