📍Localisation methods
To determine localisation, we employ multiple methods:
✔️ Analysing social media descriptions and account information
We analyse text, flags, and retrieve country information from social media descriptions on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, and Pinterest. We directly access country information from platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest.
✔️ Analysing instagram posts
We use Instagram pictures from the last 6 months (up to 100 posts) to determine the location. The location is directly provided by Instagram.
🔎 How it works?
Our algorithm generates a confidence score for each method.
By comparing these scores, it identifies which method provides the most reliable country identification for the creator.
✔️ Scoring factors: The scoring considers various components, including the percentage distribution of top countries, the number of posts, posting frequency, and audience.
✔️ Identifying the method used: On the side panel, Channels tab of the creator, you will see the following information indicating the selected method by our algorithm:
If the location derived from social media descriptions and account information, we will display this information
If the location derived from Instagram post analysis, we will display this information with the top 3 countries identified from post analysis, including the percentage of posts from each country.
Frequently asked questions
1. Is it normal for the profile location to differ from the top post countries?
Yes, this is normal.
The location defined on the profile is a combination of various parameters, which may result in differences from the top post countries.
2. Why don't the top countries add up to 100%?
We only display the top 3 countries identified from posts. The remaining percentage may represent other countries or posts without identified locations.
3. Why is only one country displayed with a low percentage of 1%?
We display the percentage of countries identified from the last 100 posts over the past 6 months. If only 1% of posts are from the United States for instance, and no other countries are displayed, it means the remaining posts did not have identified locations.
