What is the "Payment/Send payment request" step in the Campaign

Learn about the payment email in your campaigns

Updated over a month ago

The Payment/Send payment request step is the final email you send to influencers for campaigns that include flat payments as compensation (Paid Promotion or Paid Promotion with Gifting campaigns). It is used to request payment information from creators so you can pay them as agreed. This step lets you send an initial payment request email and set up multiple follow-up reminders to encourage influencers to provide their payment details.

Once you’re ready to request payment information from an influencer, go to your campaign dashboard and click "Confirm". Next, select the "Send payment request" button to start the process. This will send the initial payment request email and automatically schedule any follow-up emails you've configured. For more information on follow-ups, see: How to set up automated follow-up emails with Email flows.

I. The Payment Portal in the Email

The "Payment/Send payment request" step includes its own initial email and multiple follow-up emails. The main goal of this step is to direct influencers to their Creator Space – Payments tab where they can:

  • Choose their preferred payment method (from the options you preset).

  • Upload payment details.

  • Optionally upload their invoice and tax documents.

These details will help you collect the necessary information to process payments.

II. How Influencers Receive the Payment Request

Each payment request email contains the {{fixed_payment_link}} merge field, which generates a unique payment link for each influencer. This link is critical, as it ensures the payment request is assigned to the correct influencer, and no one else can access it.

In the default Payment email template, this link is hyperlinked to the word "HERE".

NOTE: Only influencers or agencies can use this payment link. To assist influencers, include this guide in your email: How to submit my payment request.

To edit and customize your Payment request email with {{fixed_payment_link}}, refer to: What are Campaign-specific merge fields and how do I use them?

Important Tips for Using {{fixed_payment_link}}

  • Keep the "HERE" Hyperlink: It’s recommended to keep the hyperlink on "HERE" for the {{fixed_payment_link}}, as it helps track whether a follow-up email should be sent to the influencer.

III. Tracking Influencer Payment Submissions

You can track your influencers’ payment submissions using the Upfluence Payment Tool. This tool allows you to:

  • Monitor payment request submissions.

  • Collect invoices and tax documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if my influencers or their agency don’t want to link their social media accounts to the Creator Space?

Influencers can simply click "Skip for now" to proceed without connecting their social media accounts.

2. My influencer created an account, but they can’t see the payment request page when they log back in.

If influencers can’t see the payment request page, they likely didn’t use the payment link you sent them. Ask them to log in again using the correct payment link. If the issue persists, let your creators contact our support team via the chat bot.

Note: Influencers or agencies must log in through the payment link you provided to access the payment request.

3. Can agencies create an account instead of influencers?

Yes, agencies can create their own account using their preferred email and password. They can click "Skip for now" to bypass connecting social media accounts and proceed with the payment request.
