How to enable third-party cookies for the Upfluence Chrome Plugin

Fix login and data access issues caused by Chrome's privacy updates

Updated this week

If you're having trouble using the Upfluence Chrome Plugin, you're not alone. Recent changes by Google have impacted how third-party cookies work in Chrome, affecting extensions that require user authentication β€” including Upfluence.

Why do you need to enable third-party cookies?

Google has updated its privacy policies to gradually block third-party cookies by default for Chrome users. While this improves security, it also prevents extensions like Upfluence from authenticating users, which can result in:

  • Not being properly identified by the plugin

  • Missing or inaccessible influencer data

How to enable third-party cookies in Chrome

The process differs based on whether you see an β€œEye” icon in the Chrome URL address bar.

Option 1: If you see an "Eye" icon in the address bar

  1. Open the Upfluence Chrome Plugin on any social media profile (e.g., Instagram).

  2. Look for an "Eye" icon in the Chrome URL bar.

  3. Click the Eye icon to open the Tracking Protection panel.

  4. Click the toggle to temporarily allow third-party cookies for Upfluence.

βœ… The plugin should now work!

πŸ’‘ Note: You'll need to repeat this process for each social network (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.). Once activated, cookies remain active for 90 days.

Option 2: If you don’t see an "Eye" icon in the address bar

  1. Open Google Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top right. Go to Settings.

  2. Click Privacy and Security in the left navigation bar. Select "Third party cookies".

  3. Enable "Allow all cookies" OR "Block third-party cookies in Incognito."
