If you already have a list of influencers before joining Upfluence and want to track and manage your ongoing collaborations, you can import them via CSV. This allows you to seamlessly add influencers to your Upfluence account and maintain accurate records of their details.
1. How CSV import works
CSV import allows you to bulk add influencers to a List in Upfluence. If you're not sure how to create a List yet, check this guide before starting your import.
2. How to import influencers via CSV
Step 1: Prepare your CSV file
Go to the Search & List app.
Click the downward arrow next to the List menu and select your target List.
Click Upload file and download the CSV template from the popup to follow the correct format.
Your CSV file must include:
Field Name | Description | Required? |
| Influencer’s username or profile name | ✅ Yes |
| Direct link to the influencer’s social media profile | ✅ Yes |
| Influencer’s email address | ✅ Yes |
Other fields (optional) include:
Field Name | Description |
| Unique identifier for the influencer |
| Influencer’s first name |
| Influencer’s last name |
| Influencer’s phone number |
| |
| Street address |
| Apartment or suite number |
| Zip or postal code |
| City name |
| State or region |
| Country code (e.g., US, FR) |
Note:
Columns that don’t meet these requirements will be ignored.
Invalid files will be rejected with error messages.
Step 2: Upload your file
Save your spreadsheet as a
.csv
file.Drag and drop the file into the upload box.
Wait a few minutes for the import to process.
Step 3: Fix import errors (if any)
If there are issues with your file, an error message will appear in the top-right corner.
Common CSV errors and how to fix them:
Error Type | Solution |
Invalid URLs | Make sure the social media profile links are correctly formatted. |
Incorrect email format | Ensure emails are formatted correctly, with no spaces or extra periods at the beginning or end. |
Missing required fields | Ensure |
Note: If an influencer already exists, their profile will be updated — not duplicated.
3. Tips & best practices
Use CSV import to populate merge fields and contact info in bulk.
Double-check formatting, URLs, and emails before uploading.
Each influencer should only have one URL per platform for best results.
FAQ
1. What’s the difference between influencer matching and importing?
Influencer Matching: If you only have a list of email addresses, our Support team can help match them against the Upfluence database to identify existing influencer profiles. This process does not create new profiles. It only connects your emails to existing profiles in our system.
Influencer Import: If you provide a completed import template that includes at least the influencer’s name and email social media URL, our system will:
Match the influencer with existing profiles in our database.
Create a new profile if no match is found, ensuring the influencer is added to your account.
You can initiate the email matching process by reaching out to us via Live Chat.
2. Is it possible to upload a file of our influencer list with only email address?
Not really. We require a valid URL to the influencer’s social media page in order to know who they are.
As a workaround, you can consider using the Live Capture email matching process, which works as explained in the previous FAQ. Please note: if the profiles associated with your email list are not already in Upfluence’s database, they will not be identified or added to your list.
To initiate email matching, contact our Support team via Live Chat for assistance.
3. Can I upload the template file with only certain details?
A URL to the creator’s social media URL is required. Without it, the system can’t identify or match the influencer — even if you have their email or other details.
4. Will adding an influencer make their profile visible to all users?
When influencers are added using the Chrome Plugin or a CSV import, the publicly available data from the profiles become visible to all Upfluence users. However, sensitive data such as email addresses or custom merge fields remain private to your organization.
5. I have a list of Instagram handles. How can I turn them into URLs for import?
You can convert Instagram handles to URLs in Google Sheets or Excel:
Remove “@” symbols:
In cell B1:
=SUBSTITUTE(A1, "@", "")
Build Instagram URLs:
In cell C1:
="https://www.instagram.com/" & SUBSTITUTE(A1, "@", "")
Ex:
Handle | Cleaned Handle | Instagram URL |
@jane.doe | jane.doe | |
johnsmith | johnsmith |
Drag down to apply the formulas, then copy the final URLs into the media_url
column of your CSV import template. Now you're ready to upload your file to Upfluence.
6. Why are some profiles missing after import?
Influencers whose content includes alcohol, CBD, violence, or other materials that violate Meta’s Terms and Conditions may be restricted.
Meta’s policies may prevent access to their data, which can result in incomplete profiles.
7. Does Upfluence automatically capture all of an influencer's social media profiles after import?
If you add an influencer using the Chrome Plugin or upload a profile with a specific social media URL, the system initially captures that platform. It will then attempt to automatically associate other social media accounts to their profile using public data.
8. What if other social media accounts don’t appear after an hour?
If the system can’t connect additional accounts, it may be due to:
Differences in usernames/handles across platforms.
Lack of publicly available information to confirm identity.
Our Support team can help manually merge profiles. Please provide:
A link to the creator's Upfluence profile.
URLs to their other social media accounts.
