How to create and assign a discount offer to influencers from the Community App

Learn how to quickly create and assign a discount code and affiliate link to influencers from your Community

The Community App helps you manage all influencers present in your influencer network. It is also the central point for creating discount offers that you can easily share with your influencers.

Note: Our recommendation is to primarily utilize the Workflow method for its streamlined efficiency and versatile integration into your influencer marketing strategy. Here'a a video guide about Creating a tracking plan in your campaign.

NOTE: Before creating discount codes, it is necessary to connect your Shopify store or WooCommerce to Upfluence. If this is not done, please follow the instructions in these articles:

How to create and assign discount codes to influencers

First, open the Community App and select the influencers to which you want to assign discount codes. At the top of the table, Action buttons will appear, click on "Tracking & discount".

You will now have the choice between "New tracking plan" or "Existing tracking plan".

  • New tracking plan: This allows you to create a new group of codes with new conditions, durations, type, etc.

  • Existing tracking plan: This allows you to add influencers to an existing group of codes under the same conditions

You will be redirected to the configuration page to customize your new discount offer. Please be sure to fill in all of the following information:

  • Tracking plan: Name of the offer. This name must be unique.

  • Tracking source: The e-commerce platform or store where the discount offer will be applicable.

  • UTM parameters: By enabling UTMs, we will automatically include the parameters at the end of the affiliate link generated.

  • Discount Type: Select the type of discount to offer. (i.e. 10% off or $50 discount)

  • Value: % reduction if percentage, or the fixed deduction amount in $.

  • Code Pattern: The pattern/syntax used to generate new discount codes.

  • Usage Limits: Set the number of times a code can be used.

  • Select specific products or categories: You can choose to apply the discount code to specific products or specific categories. Simply select the products or collections that you wish to apply the discount code to.

  • Active Dates: Set the time limits during which the generated offer is active. You cannot change the start date for WooCommerce codes.

When all the information has been filled in and the offer corresponds to your needs, you can confirm by clicking on "Save" at the bottom of the page.

NOTE: All generated codes will have the same configuration (type, value, pattern, usage limits, specific products/categories, active dates).

You will be redirected to your Community and a new "Status" column will be added by default. This column allows you to follow the status of the discount code generation. Code generation can take several minutes, usually around 1 minute per code.

NOTE: An affiliate link will be also generated for Shopify users. To see the affiliate link, you simply need to add the column "Affiliate link".

You can filter this column to see only those influencers related to a specific discount offer.

When all your codes have been generated, you can go on to the typical next step which is sending the codes to the influencers. You can find instructions for this step here: How to send discount codes and affiliate links to influencers.

How to track influencers' performance

You also have the ability to track the performance of the discount codes by adding other columns dedicated to your "Discount Offer".

Add the column:

  1. Click on the Manage Fields button on the top right of your Community table.

  2. Click on the field category “tracking plan“ and add the column of your choice.
