How to create and share one-time use discount codes with influencers

Set up personal-use discount codes for influencers that aren’t meant to be shared with their audience

This setup is useful if you want to offer a discount to influencers for their own use, without encouraging them to promote or share the code publicly. Each code will be unique and can only be used once.

Step 1: Create unique discount codes for each influencer

  1. Go to the Community app.

  2. Select the influencers who should receive a discount code.
    You can filter by Campaign name if needed. Learn how to filter by Campaign name

  3. At the top, click "% Affiliates" in the action bar and choose "Create a new tracking plan".

    • ⚠️ Important: When setting up your tracking plan, make sure to adjust the limits:

      • Toggle on "Limit the number of times this discount code can be used in total" and enter “1”

      • Toggle on "Limit to one use per customer"

      This ensures the code is single-use and cannot be reused or shared.

Best practice:

If you need to create codes for new influencers later, just select them in Community, go to % Affiliates, and choose Select an existing tracking plan. Pick the same plan you used before to assign more codes without creating a new one.

Step 2: Send the codes through a Campaign email

  1. Open your Campaign table view

  2. Select the influencers you want to email

  3. Click the Email bubble that appears at the top

  4. Fill in your mailing details:

    • Mailing name: Choose something easy to recognize later

    • From: Select your sender email

    • Subject and Email content: Draft your message

To insert the discount codes:

  1. At the bottom of the email editor, click the third icon (the chain link bubble) and select Unlink

  2. Search for and select the tracking plan name you created in step 1

  3. Click Link, then click the icon again and select {{discount_code}}

When everything looks good, click Save and send.

  • Each influencer will receive their own personal discount code.

  • Use the Preview toggle at the bottom left to check how the email will appear before sending.

Best practice


If you add new influencers later, you don’t need to create a new mailing:

  1. Select the new influencers in the Campaign table view

  2. Click "…" > "+ Add to"

  3. Choose "Mailings" and pick the original mailing by name

  4. Click "Add creators". New influencers will get the same email. Anyone who already received it won’t get it again

Need to check what a mailing looks like?

  1. Go to your Inbox

  2. Use the dropdown in the top-left corner to view all mailings

  3. Click a name to review the email content

Step 3: Track code usage

To see if an influencer has used their code:

  1. In the Community tab, click Manage Fields in the top-right.

  2. Open the Tracking plan category.

  3. Find the tracking plan you created and add the Number of sales column.

If the number shows "1", the code has been used.

Pro tip:

  • Filter by the Campaign column to only see influencers from a specific campaign.
