How to track Instagram Stories

Instagram Story tracking with Stream

Updated today

Instagram stories are private content and can only be tracked if the influencer shares their data with Upfluence. There are two tracking options:

Option 1: Automatic Stories tracking (Recommended)

Automatic tracking is the most accurate and time efficient option. It is available for influencers with business accounts.

Steps:

  1. Creators must connect their Instagram accounts:

    1. Invite influencers using the {{stories_invitation_link}} merge field in your emails, which links to: https://creators.upfluence.com/stories-invitation

    2. Share this article with influencers to help them: Guide for how to automatically sync my Instagram Stories

Note: Only influencers with professional accounts are eligible. (Instagram: About professional accounts)

  2. Inform influencers of Story requirements (keywords & mentions)

    • Share the hashtags or mentions they need to use in their Stories captions (e.g., #Running or @mybrand).

  3. Set up Stream/Campaign Content tab

    • Specify Stories in the post types and set up keywords before influencers post.

      💡 Example:

      • To track the hashtag #Running, choose "Hashtag" in the "Field Type" and enter "Running" in the "Value" field.

      • To track mentions of @mybrand, select "Mention" in the "Field Type" and enter "mybrand" in the "Value" field.

Note: Creators must use accurate keywords (hashtags or mentions) you previously shared with them in their captions for Stream to track their Stories

Option 2: Manual Stories tracking

If influencers don’t connect their accounts or forget, they can manually upload their Stories, even after 24 hours.

Steps:

  1. Inform influencers of keywords

    • Provide influencers with the exact hashtags or mentions to use when posting or uploading their Stories.

  2. Request Story uploads

  3. Confirm Campaign setup

    • Ensure your Stream/Campaign Content tab includes the correct keywords.

Note: Creators must use accurate keywords (hashtags or mentions) you previously shared with them in their captions for Stream to track their Stories
