Upfluence uses multiple methods to analyze and verify influencer locations based on their social media activity. You can see the origin of the location data directly on influencer profiles.
📍Localisation methods
To determine localisation, we employ multiple methods:
✔️ Social media descriptions and account information
We analyze text, flags, and country information from social media bios on platforms such as:
Instagram
TikTok
YouTube
Twitter
Twitch
Pinterest
Some platforms, like YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest, provide direct country information, which we retrieve.
✔️ Instagram post analysis
We review Instagram pictures from the last six months (up to 100 posts).
If the posts have location tags, we use them to determine the influencer’s most frequent posting locations.
Instagram directly provides the location information from tagged posts.
🔎 How it works?
Our algorithm assigns a confidence score to each localisation method based on several factors.
The system compares scores from different methods.
It selects the most reliable method for country identification.
It displays the source of the location in the influencer’s profile under the Channels tab.
📌 Scoring factors include:
The percentage distribution of top identified countries
Number of posts analyzed
Posting frequency
Audience data
How location data appears on an influencer’s profile:
If the location is determined from social media bios, this will be shown in the Channels tab.
If the location is based on Instagram post analysis, the top three identified countries will be displayed, along with the percentage of posts from each country.
Frequently asked questions
1. Is it normal for the profile location to differ from the top post countries?
Yes, this is normal.
The profile location is based on multiple data sources, while the top post countries reflect only the Instagram post analysis.
This means there can be differences between the two.
2. Why don't the top countries add up to 100%?
We only display the top three countries identified from posts.
The remaining percentage accounts for:
Other countries not listed
Posts without identified locations
3. Why is only one country displayed with a very low percentage (e.g., 1%)?
The system analyzes up to 100 Instagram posts from the last six months.
If only 1% of posts are from a specific country (e.g., the U.S.), and no other locations appear, this means:
The remaining 99% of posts had no identifiable locations.
