Creators: How to create and set up your Upfluence Pay account

Create the account that matches the brand’s currency, link your local bank account, and start getting paid

Upfluence Pay is how brands send you payments through Upfluence. Set it up once and your payments arrive in your bank account automatically, in your own currency.

Which account you need

Brands pay in US dollars, euros, or British pounds, so there’s an Upfluence Pay account for each one: US platform, EU platform, and UK platform. The one you need depends on what the brand is paying in.

These names are about the money, not about you. You can use any of them from any supported country, so don’t worry if the one you’re asked to create doesn’t match where you live. It won’t change anything about how your money reaches you.

Most creators only ever need one. If you later work with a brand paying in a different currency, you can add that account too, and both stay available in your billing settings. You’ll be prompted to create it when you claim the payment.

What you’ll be paid in

You’re paid in your own currency, in your own bank account. If you’re in Canada you receive Canadian dollars, if you’re in Taiwan you receive Taiwanese dollars, whatever currency the brand paid in. The conversion is automatic and you don’t need to do anything.

This is why the country you select during setup matters: it decides which currency arrives in your bank account. Choose the country where you actually bank.

Creating your account

The setup flow is the same for all three platform accounts. The only difference is which Stripe platform you're redirected to in step 3.

  1. Log in to your Creator Space and go to Settings > Billing.

  2. Scroll down to the Payment Methods section. You'll see cards for the US platform, the EU platform, and the UK platform.

  3. Click Configure under the platform you want to set up, then check the terms and conditions checkbox and click Create. You'll be redirected to Stripe's hosted setup page for that platform.

  4. Enter your email address and phone number, then click Continue.

Note: Your email will become your Stripe login and your phone number will be used for verification. Make sure both are valid.

  5. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your phone.

  6. Select the country where you or your business legally operates and choose your business type:

    1. Individuals: Use your home address country.

    1. Companies: Use your registered business country.

Your country has to be on the list of supported countries, and it decides which currency you’re paid out in, so pick carefully.

  7. Add your payout method (bank account or debit card, where available).

  8. Accept the Stripe Service Agreement and click Agree and Submit.

Once submitted, you'll be redirected back to Settings > Billing. Stripe will verify your information, which may take a few hours. You can check your account status there at any time.

🚨 Important: Double-check your payment details (especially IBAN or account number). Transfers sent to the wrong account are irreversible.

Creating an account from a payment request

If a brand sends you a payment and you don’t have the matching account yet, you can create it right there instead of going to your billing settings first.

  1. On the payment request page, click Create account.

  2. Read the terms and conditions, check the confirmation checkbox, then click Create.

  3. You'll be redirected to Stripe to complete your account setup. Follow the same steps as described above.

  4. Once done, you'll be brought back to your payment request automatically.

If you already have an account on a different platform, it will appear as non-selectable on the payment request page. Only the account matching the brand's payment currency can be used to claim that payment.

Adding your bank account

Two things need to line up. If either doesn’t, your bank will refuse the transfer when Stripe tries to send it, so the setup looks fine until your money fails to arrive.

  • The currency. Your bank account needs to accept the currency of the country you selected during setup. A Canadian account needs to take Canadian dollars, a Taiwanese account needs to take Taiwanese dollars.

  • The name. The name on the bank account needs to match the name on your Upfluence Pay account, whether that’s your own name or your company’s. Write it in Latin letters, even if your name is normally written in another alphabet. If you’re in Japan, use katakana or romaji.

To add or change your bank account, go to Settings > Payout details in your Upfluence Pay account, then click Add bank account, or Edit to replace the one you’ve already added.

Important: Check your IBAN or account number carefully before confirming. Money sent to the wrong account can’t be recovered.

After you submit

You’ll come back to Settings > Billing, where your account will show as pending while your details are verified. This usually takes a few hours. You can check the status there whenever you want.

FAQs

1. Why does my Upfluence Pay account say “Pending”?

You may have incomplete information on file. Log in to Stripe and update the missing details. If everything looks complete, Stripe may still be verifying your information — this can take up to 24 hours. If the status persists, log in to your Stripe account directly to find out more.

2. I’m not in the US, so why am I being asked to create a US account?

Because the brand paying you is paying in US dollars. The account name refers to their currency, not your location. You’ll still be paid in your own currency, in your own bank account.

3. Which currency will I receive?

Your own, based on the country you selected when you created your account. The conversion from the brand’s currency happens automatically.

4. Do I need more than one account?

Only if you work with brands paying in different currencies. If that happens, you’ll be prompted to create the second account when you claim the payment.

5. I already had an Upfluence Pay account before, where did it go?

It’s under the US platform card in your billing settings. Nothing has changed about how it works.

6. Can I link an existing Stripe account?

No. Upfluence Pay uses Stripe Express, which is separate from a standard Stripe account. Existing Stripe accounts cannot be connected.

7. Can I change the country of my Stripe account?

Yes, but you’ll need to delete your Stripe account and start over.

📌 For more details, check: How to delete my Upfluence Pay account

Important: If your account has a remaining balance, it cannot be deleted. If you've already claimed a payment request, wait until your balance reaches $0 before deleting.

8. I can’t find my bank during Stripe setup (Japan-specific)

If you're based in Japan, Stripe supports payouts only to banks participating in the Foreign Exchange Yen Clearing System (FXYCS).

  • If your bank doesn’t appear, try registering another bank account

  • Stripe can't confirm which banks participate, please contact your bank directly for confirmation

9. How can I get paid by brands through Upfluence Pay?

Brands can choose to pay via Upfluence Pay or other methods such as PayPal or wire transfer. When you receive a payment request, you'll see the options available based on what the brand has set up.
