How to set up affiliate commissions

Learn how to generate affiliate commissions for the influencer you work with

Updated this week

In order to use the affiliate commissions system, you first need to:

  • Make sure you have an e-commerce integration connected (Shopify or WooCommerce).

  • Properly assign a discount offer to your campaign. Guide.

NOTE: Without these two conditions, we won't be able to track sales whiting your campaign.

Are the two conditions mentioned above properly implemented? If so, we can start!

1️⃣ Payout rates attribution

The Payout rate allows you to assign an individual payout per influencer and per campaign. This way, you can pay influencers according to the sales generated by that influencer. You should have a brand-new column called “Commission”. This column allows you to easily see the payout rate assigned to each influencer in your campaign.

To assign a payout by an influencer, make sure you have influencers in your campaign and open the influencer profile for which you want to assign a payout. To open it, click on it.

You will now see the campaign side panel. At the very top of the page, in the “Information” section, you will find a section called “Affiliate Commissions”. This is where you can assign a commission per influencer and per campaign.

You can choose between two types of commissions:

- Percentage of each sale: % of the value of each sale generated

- Fixed amount per sale: fixed value per sale made

- Calculation: To calculate the payout based on the value of the sale, we take into account the value of the sale without taxes and with the discount deducted.

- Canceled/Refunded orders: To be considered as a sale, the order must be marked as “Paid” on your e-commerce. We do not take into account “Canceled” or “Refunded” orders.

Choose the payout value when you want to award the influencer. In our example, the influencer will receive $10 for each sale made. This means that if he generates 10 sales, he will receive $100.

Once done, validate your choice by clicking on the “Save” button above this section. Close the side panel and you will be able to see the updated value in the commission column.

Make sure you have a discount code and/or affiliate link attributed to this influencer (see above) and you can now start your campaign by sending him the code/link.

2️⃣ Sales tracking

The influencer you are collaborating with has received the code/link and is generating sales? Great!

Let's see how to effectively track the sales generated by each influencer in your campaign.

There are three ways to track how a specific influencer is performing:

1. Workflow table: We have three dedicated columns:

- Number of sales

- Total generated sales value

- Amount due

2. Side-panel

You also have a dedicated section in the side panel that will let you easily track the sales generated for each influencer. Just open the profile you want.

3. Performance tab

Finally, as for the regular conversion tracking, you can track the sales in the performances tab. We will show you each sale generated for all influencers in your campaign. You can also filter by a specific influencer to know exactly how many sales have been generated, and the individual commission linked to each sale.

3️⃣ Affiliate Payments

Your campaign is running, and the influencers are generating sales, perfect! But how can you pay influencers?

Using the Workflow side panel, you can easily create payment requests at scale and pay the influencers multiple times per campaign depending on the payout rate.

We recommend that you wait at least 15 days before paying influencers for generated sales. This ensures that you meet the applicable retraction period.

To generate payment requests, click on the influencer you want to pay and check the commission value. We automatically provide the amount you due to the influencer, depending on the payout rate that has been attributed to this influencer and the

commission they have.

Thanks to the several buttons and actions available to pay your creators, you can easily generate a payment request with the amount you due to them.

If your influencer generates more sales, just repeat this process as many times as necessary. You can easily track the amount that has already been paid using the payment history section or using the “Total paid” column in your Workflow table.

4️⃣ Sales and commission export

Influencers may contact you to ask for transparency on how commissions are calculated and this is perfectly normal as it is a common practice in the industry.

We have set up an export system that allows you to export all sales made and the commission attributed to each sale. This way, you can easily export a .CSV file to send to the influencer who asks you for a breakdown of sales and commissions.

To export the document, go to the "Performance" part of your Workflow campaign, then click on "Conversions". Select the conversions you want to export and click on "Export". A file will be downloaded.
