How to search for influencers using Upfluence Search Tool

Learn how to increase your community with the Search Tool

Updated this week

The search tool is an amazing way to quickly identify and analyze influencers that align with your brand's Influencer Marketing needs at scale.

When you do a search for influencers, you have three sections that help you find influencers that fit all your criteria.

1️⃣ Selecting social media

When you begin your search using Upfluence, the first thing you want to do is to Pick your social media.

Simply access the menu, choose your preferred social media platform where you want to find your influencers, define related parameters, and they'll appear in the designated field upon closure.

✔️ Parameters to define:

  • Followers: How many followers the influencer should have

  • Min. avg engagement: How engaged the community is to the influencer

  • Min. followers growth rate: based on the last 90 days, you will be able to set a minimum followers, subscribers, fans growth rate. Applicable to all social media excepts for blog.

  • Min. engagement growth rate: based on the last 90 days, you will be able to set a minimum engagement growth rate. Applicable to all social media excepts for Twitch and blog.

  • Last activity: The last time the influencer was active.

2️⃣ Keywords

Keywords are words, hashtags or mentions, etc... that you want to appear in your ideal influencer’s content. They could also be words that you probably don’t want your influencers to be using.

Adding keywords is now a fluid experience. Simply type your keywords directly into the bar, pressing enter after each entry for swift addition.

What's new:

  • Now to search for a specific creator, simply prefix it with '@'. We will display the account with this handle at the top of your search results.

  • You can now search by hashtag using the '#' symbol. You'll see creators who have used them in their content during the past 90 days.

  • We’ve simplified the process by removing weight considerations while retaining the ability to set conditions and match in parameters.

You can select different criteria for each of your keywords:

✔️ Condition:

  • "Should":

    • can be read as "or". It means that the keyword can be mentioned or not if you use more than one keyword.

    • For example, if you add “coffee” and “tea” as keywords and select "should" for both keywords, in your search results influencers that mention coffee or tea will be displayed.

  • Must”:

    • Is useful when you want a keyword to definitely mentioned influencers.

    • For example, you want to find influencers who drink lattes but are vegan, you can add the keyword vegan and select "must" for this keyword in addition to keywords such as coffee, latte, etc.

  • Must Not”:

    • This is really helpful when you don't want your influencer to mention a specific keyword. It can be also used to exclude influencers who worked with a specific brand or mention a specific word from your search results

    • For example, if you don’t want your influencer to already be working with “Nike.” You can input, “Nike,” then change the type to “must not”.

✔️ Match in:

In this section, you select where you want the Keyword to be mentioned such as in the Name, handle, biography, content, etc. it's really useful when for example you are looking for a specific type of influencer.

For example, if you are looking for family influencers, you can add the keywords "mom" and "dad" and select Instagram bio.

3️⃣ More Filters

When searching for influencers you can have specific criteria that influencers need to match, such as Language used by the account, Influencer's Country, Gender, Audience profile, etc... All of these criteria can be selected in the search tool in the "More filters" section.

You can refine your criteria on the influencers themselves:

✔️ Filter by creator

  • Language: The language the Influencer’s content is in.

  • Country: The country the influencer is based in.

  • Geolocation: Where the influencer is currently located based on their recent locations. (This is great if you want to host events or pop-up shops and want to invite the influencer). Check Country and Geolocation Field in Search Tool: How Does It Work?

  • Gender: The gender of influencers.

  • Age Brackets: The age range of influencers.

  • Creator was added: When the influencer last added to their feed.

  • Has an email: Influencers who have an email (highly recommended to select this option so you can contact the influencer through the Upfluence software).

  • Profile type: We now separate Brand's official account from Creators's account.

✔️ Filter by audience

  • Audience's criteria: Determine the type of audience you want your influencers to have. These criteria are based on Instagram community data. You can add gender, age, and living country criteria.

✔️ Filter by lists

  • List to exclude: Exclude an existing list from your search results. (This is great if you’re already working on an existing campaign and don’t want to contact the same influencers).

  • List to include: Search within an existing list.

You are ready to find influencers for your campaigns with the search function!
