How to find the right creators using the Search app

Search by keywords, filters, or natural language, and build your creator shortlist in one place

The Search app is where you find creators that match your campaign needs. There are two ways to search:

  • Standard search: type keywords and hashtags, and apply filters by platform, engagement metrics, or audience demographics, etc.

  • Jaice Search: describe what you're looking for in plain language and let Jaice translate it into a filtered search for you.

Both approaches live in the same place. Which one you use depends on how specific your need is, and you can switch between them at any time.

For a different starting point, see How to source creators using your brand identity, which lets Jaice generate ready-to-use searches based on your brand profile.

Follow along with our video walk through below or keep scrolling to reference our written Step-By-Step guide!

Search with Jaice (default)

When you open Search > Find creators, Jaice Search is on by default. Here's how it works:

  1. Click the search bar and type what you're looking for in your own words, the type of creator, content style, audience, or platform you have in mind.

  2. Press Enter. Jaice sets the filters and loads results automatically.

  3. The filters Jaice applied appear below the search bar. Click x on any filter to remove it and update results.

  4. To refine further, click the search bar again and type a follow-up. Jaice adjusts the existing filters without losing what's already applied.

A few things to know:

  • If your follow-up query is on a completely different topic, Jaice detects the shift and generates a brand new search from scratch.

  • To stop Jaice mid-generation, click Stop. Your last input stays in the search bar so you can edit and retry.

  • To clear everything and start fresh, click Reset filters.

Note: Your conversation history with Jaice resets when you refresh the page or leave Search. Your filters are preserved in the URL as usual.

Switch to standard search

To set filters manually:

  1. Click the search bar.

  2. Toggle off Jaice Search in the dropdown.

  3. The search bar switches to keyword input, with Social & Audience and More filters available alongside it.

To switch back to Jaice Search, open the dropdown and toggle Jaice Search back on.

Set keywords (standard search)

Type keywords, hashtags, or @handles in the search bar and press Enter after each one.

  • Use @handle to surface a specific creator at the top of results.

  • Use #hashtag to find creators who used it in their content in the last 90 days.

  • Use keywords your target creators are likely to use in their content, NOT words that describe them.

Keyword conditions

Each keyword can be set to:

  • Should: the keyword may or may not appear (functions as OR). Use this when any one of several terms would work.

    For example:

If you add "dog" and "cat" as keywords and select "Should" for both, your search results will display creators that mention "dog" OR "cat"

  • Must: the keyword must appear in results.

    For example:

If you want to find creators who drink lattes but are vegan, add the keyword "vegan" and select "Must" for it. Then, add keywords like "coffee" and "latte" set as "should."

  • Must not: exclude creators who mention this keyword. This is useful for excluding specific keywords or creators associated with certain activities, brands or trends.

    For example:

If you want to avoid creators who mention "sugar", you can input "sugar" and select "must not" to exclude them from your search results.

Match by placement

You can filter by where the keyword appears, username, bio, post content, and more. For example, to find family creators, add "mom" or "dad" matched to Instagram bio.

Social & Audience filters

Click Social & Audience to select a platform and set creator-level criteria:

  • Followers: min and max follower count

  • Min. avg engagement rate

  • Min. follower growth rate (90 days)

  • Min. engagement growth rate (90 days)

  • Last activity: when the creator last posted

Audience demographic filters

Within each platform's section, click Add rule to filter by audience:

  • Age range

  • Gender

  • Country

Audience filters are available for Instagram and TikTok.

AND vs. OR logic

When you select multiple platforms:

  • OR: shows creators who meet criteria on any selected platform (broader results)

  • AND: shows only creators who meet criteria on all selected platforms (narrower results)

The same AND/OR logic applies to audience filters across platforms.

More filters

Click More filters to narrow by creator profile or list membership.

  • Show only creators with emails: only creators with a publicly listed email (recommended for outreach via Upfluence)

  4. Use the dropdown next to the community button to add creators to other entities (campaigns, mailing lists, etc.).

At the top of the page, use the Selected, Rejected, and Lookalikes tabs to review your choices and explore recommendations based on who you've already picked.
