Configuring Two-Factor Authentication

Strengthen your account security with SMS-based authentication, learn how to enable, disable and recover your access to Upfluence

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Why enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enhances security by requiring a second verification step in addition to your password. This helps protect against:

  • Unauthorized access – Prevents breaches caused by phishing or weak credentials.

  • Financial risks – Reduces the chances of fraudulent payments or fund transfers.

  • Loss of sensitive data – Keeps private information, such as creator payments, secure.

How to enable 2FA on Upfluence

You can activate SMS-based 2FA in just a few steps:

  1. Click on your profile picture (or initials) in the bottom left corner and select Settings.

  2. In the Security section, find the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) box and click Enable 2FA.

  3. On the 2FA setup page, click Enable under Text Message (SMS).

  4. Enter your phone number and click Send code.

  5. Enter the verification code sent to your phone.

  6. Save your backup codes – You’ll receive 10 unique recovery codes in case you lose access to your phone. Store them securely or download them as a file.

  7. Click Access Upfluence to complete the setup.

🎉 Done! The next time you log in, you’ll need to enter an SMS verification code along with your username and password.

How to disable 2FA

If needed, you can disable 2FA at any time:

  1. Go to Account Settings.

  2. Click Disable 2FA in the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) box.

When is 2FA required

Some actions always require 2FA verification for added security:

  • Managing payments – When initiating or processing transactions.

  • Changing security settings – Like updating your phone number, generating new recovery codes, or turning off another teammate’s 2FA.

Once you verify your identity, your session stays trusted for 30 minutes — so you won’t need to re-authenticate for every step.

Lost access to 2FA? What are my recovery & backup options?

  2. Ask another admin. If your company has multiple administrators (check in User Management), one of them can help recover access.
