How to preview your mailing content and send yourself a sample email

Learn how to preview your mailing content and send yourself a sample email before running your mailing.

At Upfluence, we recommend you review your email content using the preview mode and send yourself a sample email before running a mailing. This way you make sure you have the perfect email.

How to use the Preview Mode

You can preview the content of your emails before sending them. It's a good way to make sure that all your merge fields have a value, which influencer profiles are missing a value, and edit merge fields.

To activate this preview mode, click on the toggle and it will activate the preview mode.

When you are in preview mode, the system will automatically replace the merge fields present in the content of your email with the variables available on the influencer profiles or their fallback value.

This allows you to quickly identify missing merge fields and anticipate potential errors. There are 3 color codes:

  • Green: When the merge field is available

  • Orange: when the merge field is not available but a fallback value is present

  • Red: merge field not available and there is no fallback value

In addition to that, you can easily choose which influencer to preview using the dropdown menu. This makes it easy to identify which profile is missing merge fields. We also display a cookie next to the influencer name to identify the offending profiles.

You can also edit and add influencer merge fields directly from the preview mode. This means that if a merge field is missing, we will add it to the influencer's profile with the chosen value.

Before running your emails, you can double-check your mailing settings by sending yourself a sample email!

NOTE: Once you check everything, make sure you save your email and test your template!

How to send a sample email

  • When you don't have influencers added to your mailing yet:

You simply have to open the Template edition tool. On the bottom right corner, open the menu and click on "Send sample email ", you will receive an email to your inbox with dummy data where influencer information should be.

  • When you have influencers added to your mailing:

First, you need to activate this preview mode. Click on the toggle and it will activate the preview mode.

In the preview mode, you can send your sample email with the value of the influencer you are previewing the email content. To select a different influencer click on the influencer name to open the dropdown menu or you can use the upside-down arrow before "Preview as". Once you selected the influencer you can click on "send sample email".

Sending yourself a test email is a great way to double-check to see if your email looks its' best and is ready to be sent out.

Note: Sample emails are sent with the Upfluence mailing provider even if you have integrated your own Gmail or Outlook mailbox.

When you are sure that your email is the one you want to send click on "Save" and start running your mailing.

You receive your email sample in the inbox you use to log into Upfluence.

  • Why when I send a sample email is the email sender is Upfluence mailing provider?

All sample emails will be sent by Upfluence mailing provider, the sender email will end by @software.upfluence.co, even if you selected a Gmail or Outlook email sender.

A quick way to test if you set up everything correctly is to add your brand profile to the platform and send an email to this profile.

  • Why when I send a sample email with an application/draft/publishing/payment link is the link not working?

If in your email there is a workflow-specific link, the link in the sample will always be a broken link that directs you to a 404 error page. Our system is built like this to avoid our users using the link instead of influencers and creating confusion.
