How can I ensure I have sufficient stock for influencer gifting during a campaign?

Updated over 3 months ago

When running an influencer gifting campaign, it's important to ensure you have enough stock to meet demand. This guide will show you how to set up low stock alerts in Shopify, so you're always prepared.

The process differs slightly depending on whether you're using Shopify Admin or Shopify Plus.

Setting Up Low Stock Alerts in Shopify Admin

1️⃣ Log in to your Shopify Admin:

Go to your Shopify admin panel.

2️⃣ Go to Products:

Click on "Products" in the left-hand menu.

3️⃣ Select the Product:

Choose the product you want to set up low stock alerts for.

4️⃣ Adjust Inventory Settings:

  1. Scroll down to the "Inventory" section of the product page.

  2. Make sure that "Track quantity" is checked.

  3. Under the "Inventory quantity" section, you can set a "Quantity" and "Low stock threshold."

5️⃣ Set Low Stock Threshold:

Enter the number at which you want to be notified when the stock reaches this level. For example, if you want to be alerted when there are 5 items left, set the threshold to 5.

6️⃣ Save:

Click "Save" to apply the changes.

Note: Each SKU will be individually monitored.

For example:

If a T-shirt is available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes (each size being a separate SKU), and you set a low stock threshold of 5 units, Shopify will alert you when any one of those sizes drops below 5 units.

✅ Setting Up Campaign Automations with Shopify Plus (Shopify Flow)

If you're using Shopify Plus, you can take advantage of Shopify Flow to automate low stock alerts for an entire category of products.

1️⃣ Install Shopify Flow:

If Shopify Flow isn’t already installed, add it from the Shopify App Store (it's free for Shopify Plus users).

2️⃣ Create a Workflow for Low Stock Alerts:

In Shopify Flow, set up a trigger such as "Inventory quantity changed."

3️⃣ Add a Condition:

  1. Use a condition like "Product is in collection [Your Collection Name]."

  2. Add another condition, "Inventory quantity is less than [Your Threshold]."

4️⃣ Set the Action:

Add an action to send an alert (e.g., email, Slack, etc.) whenever a product in the specified collection drops below the threshold.

5️⃣ Save and Activate the workflow.

Note: Like with Shopify Admin, all SKUs will be individually monitored for low stock levels.
