Merge fields are dynamic fields that automatically populate in emails based on the information attached to an influencer’s profile, such as their name, location, or social media handle.

Using merge fields is a great way to personalize emails for each influencer, streamlining your outreach process. This guide will show you how to create your own merge fields in the Search & List tool, making future outreach easier.

I. Two Ways to Create Merge Fields

1️⃣ Individually on influencer profiles

You can create custom merge fields for each influencer directly on their profile.

  1. Open the influencer’s profile from any page by clicking on their name.

  2. In the side panel, go to the Profile section at the top.

  3. Go to the Merge Fields section and click Edit > Add merge field.

  4. Enter the name and value for the merge field.

  5. Click Save to update the profile. The merge field is now available for personalized emails.

2️⃣ Bulk Creation via CSV

If you want to use the same merge field for multiple influencers, it's faster to create them using a spreadsheet.

Step 1: Download your list of influencers

  • On your List page:

    • Click the Export button, then select "Export selected influencer(s) to".

Or

  • In the Community app:

    • Select your creators, click the Export button, and a pop-up will appear.

    • Choose Standard Export, then select either .csv or .xlsx, and hit Export.

Step 2: Prepare the CSV File

  1. Open the exported file and add new columns for each merge field you want to create, such as product, price, shoe_size, or ship_racking_number.

  2. Fill in the columns with the relevant information for each influencer.

Step 3: Save and Upload

  1. Save the updated spreadsheet as a .csv file.

  2. Upload the file back into Upfluence's database.

  3. You can now find your new merge fields on influencers' profiles and they can be used when customizing your emails.

Note: Depending on the size of your list, it may take a few minutes for the influencers and merge fields to be fully updated.

II. Editing Merge Fields

1️⃣ On Influencer Profiles

  1. Open the side panel of an influencer’s profile from any tab.

  2. Click on the Profile tab in the top-right of the panel.

  3. You can edit existing merge fields or add new ones directly from here

2️⃣ In the Community App

  1. Use the Manage Fields feature to display and edit the merge fields you’ve created.

  2. Click on Add value to update the merge field with new information.
